Napa Basin Vineyard

Varietals: Langtry Farms’ Napa Basin Vineyards consist of 20 acres of producing Petite Sirah and Petite Verdot wine grapes. There are also 101 acres of newly planted Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Verdot, Petite Sirah, Pinot Gris, and Sauvignon Blanc.

Location: These Napa Basin Vineyards are located in a small valley, which is adjacent to Pope Valley and along Putah Creek, all of which lie in the Napa Valley appellation. Due to the small size of this valley, we enjoy very cool summer nights and warm summer days.

Soils: Soils in the Napa Basin are derived from alluvium deposited from the waters of Putah Creek that flow through the middle of the Napa Basin. Deep, well-drained soils dominate the terraces of the Napa Basin. The soils are medium textured loams and clay loams with river cobble common in some soil profiles. The soils are slightly acidic and have moderate fertility levels. The available water holding capacity is typically high, thus necessitating the use of low vigor rootstocks and adequate row and vine spacing to achieve a desirable vine balance for the production of both premium quality white and red wine grape varieties.
